Guitar Build Costs

I’m sure that some of you will be curious to know how much my guitar build will cost.  Well, it’s not going to be cheap, but I view it as buying a holiday and a custom guitar at the same time, and if you look at it that way, the cost isn’t too bad!

You can look online and find the costs of the course and most of the components, but I thought I’d save you the bother and put them all here!  The components themselves are shown with pictures on another page; this page is only about the cost.  I’ve paid for some things in GBP and others in EUR so I’ll take an approximate exchange rate for the final cost (which will be updated as I incur further expenses).

I bought some guitar-themed t-shirts specially for the course, just for a bit of fun, so those are included too!

This has been updated since I upgraded to the new 6-day option, which cost an extra £200, and I have also prepaid £200 for the woods, which should be close to what they will cost.

Course (5 days)………………………………………………£850

Irongear Rolling Mill + Alchemist 90 pickups….£58.40

Schaller Hannes piezo bridge + preamp…………..€382

Schaller M6 Toplocking machine heads…………..€148

Schaller jack plate…………………………………………..€10.80

Schaller strap buttons……………………………………..£14.95

T-shirts………………………………………………………….£60 (approx.)

Accommodation………………………………………………£295 (5 nights)

Woods (prepaid estimate)……………………………….£200

Travel (Ferry)…………………………………………………€115

Total so far (approximate)………………………….£2030

On top of this, I will have petrol costs, and there are some other components which I will get from Crimson Guitars during the course.  I have already prepaid £200 for the various woods, which should be close to the final cost.  I will also need strings, frets and some electronics (pots, selector switch, wires).
